Ciao ~ Fellow Arctic Inhabitants !
Instructor Overview:
As the Learning Support Center TA, I provide support for online learning and offer training in computerized tutorials and software applications that are available to students, faculty, staff and community members in the NHCTC computer lab.
Technology Workshops
I spend a considerable amount of time coordinating, planning and instructing technology workshops with other staff members. We offer several workshops throughout the year in support of higher education in learning and technology. This year I will be working very hard with other staff to get our workshops and technology learning resources online.
Assistive Technology
In addition to coordinating technology workshops, I am also the Center's Assistive Technology Specialist, offering support for students through the Disability Service Coordinator. We have one designated computer station with specialized software that is designed to help with special needs and I am currently assisting several students per year in support of their academic success. Some of these applications are Dragon Naturally Speaking 9 Voice Recognition Software, Kurzweil 3000 Scan and Read and ZoomText. At the beginning of each semester, I offer an Assistive Technology Workshop to promote faculty awareness of these special accommodations that are available to help their students.
Instructional Design
I enjoy helping others to learn how to work with graphics for printing and web publishing. I have been working with graphic and web site design for over five years and I am certified in web programming.
I am currently the web designer for two web sites that are part of the college. I have also designed several publications for the college since 2001 including presentations, brochures, instructional materials, flyers, newsletters, logos and signs.
